Inauguration of Personal Vehicle Traffic from Rimdan Border: A New Gateway for Tourists to Pakistan

The Director General of Sistan and Baluchestan Provincial Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization has announced (Dated: 27 April, 2025) the initiation of (tourists) personal vehicle traffic through the Rimdan border crossing, marking a significant milestone in cross-border connectivity with Pakistan.

Shahram Mobaraki stated:

“For the first time, personal passenger vehicles are now permitted to travel through the Rimdan border crossing. Both Iranian and Pakistani vehicles are authorized to pass through this route” Mobarki also stated “Rimadan Border is the closest link to Pakistan’s major and densely populated cities, this gateway holds immense potential for expanding bilateral relations. Iran is optimistic that boosted cooperation between the two nations will lead to increased and more seamless travel through the Rimdan border.”

Before this inauguration, the Peace and Friendship Tourism Rally 2025 was launched as a pioneering pilot project aimed at promoting regional connectivity. The initiative was jointly organized by the Touring and Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran (TACI) and Honourable Farhat Jabeen Ali, Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran, with on-ground coordination and assistance in Pakistan provided by the International Road Transport Chamber of Pakistan (IRTCoP). This rally served as a practical test to operationalize personal vehicle cross-border movement through the Rimdan / Gabd border crossing. It offered a live demonstration of the route’s readiness for international road traffic and underscored its strategic importance in enabling people-to-people contact, cultural exchange, and seamless logistical coordination between the two nations.

Mr. Rana Asif Khan, President of the International Road Transport Chamber of Pakistan (IRTCoP), welcomed the inauguration of personal vehicle traffic through the Rimdan border by the Iran that is “a significant breakthrough in enhancing tourism, trade, and international transport.”

IRTCoP’s President expressed deep appreciation for the cooperation between Pakistani and Iranian authorities, noting that the development reflects a shared commitment to peace, regional friendship, and economic integration. “This milestone marks the beginning of a new era in cross-border connectivity and people-to-people engagement,” he affirmed IRTCoP’s dedication to advancing international travel corridors for a more connected and prosperous region.

IRTCoP’s President further appreciated the provision of necessary infrastructure at the Rimdan border to streamline cross-border traffic and tourists. This step will pave to introduce regular and structured road transport services to major cities in Pakistan and Iran, facilitating easier and faster travel, tourists and cargo transport for traders, pilgrims and even local border communities.
